Winter

Well then - quite the drama thanks to the earth's jaunty little angle in its spin around the sun! The up side is I've had more exercise in the past three weeks shoveling snow than I have in my entire life. Okay, maybe the thrill was gone as of today as I was cleaning storm drains, but it sure made for a memorable Christmas. Julia and I did LOTS of sledding, including all the way down to the cove on Christmas eve to pick up the turkey. For a California girl like me, the novelty of the white stuff never really wears off. Even after a load off the - surprisingly slippery new metal roof - crushed my Adirondack chairs, I was still enchanted.

The Art of 'Yes' and 'No'

Apparently I’m “blog” challenged - unable to clearly define what my irregular communication is. Blog? Not topical enough. Journal? Not confessional enough.
Arrogant assumption you might be interested in my randomly expressed distillation of my life and times and opinions? That’s probably the most accurate.
Okay then – here we go!

Hi Ho, Hi Ho

Wow. Life is crammed. This is the most I've worked / played and all that it entails - in my life! The Pumkin tour has been a fantastic adventure. Everywhere we go there are so many stories about how the Pumkin's music has woven its way through the lives of people - and their families - 3 generations of them. That's the up side of having a 34 year history with a band (that, and loving those boys to death!). The down side? I rarely recall whatever show they earnestly describe as the first time the saw us. Nada. Zippo. I often say, I've had a fantastic life - if ONLY I could remember it! Of course, touring BC in the summer is as good as it gets. But there's something else going on, and I can't quite put my finger on it - the music is feeling phenomenally GOOD! There's a list below of all the shows remaining in the tour, so I hope to see you at one of them.

Playing catch up

It is only by virtue of the illusion of holiday afforded by Easter that I've been able to catch up on a few things like updating this site with new dates and a note to you all.

It's been so long I don't even know where to start...

Julia and I spent Christmas down in Marin County with son Mike's adoptive family, exploring our childhood haunts and continuing the celebration of the grand expansion of our family. Now we're so settled into the new reality that it seems like it's always been this way.

Brrrr

Okay, as Canadian as I am, maybe you just can't take the California out of the girl. I'm cold! Just not ready for it no matter how inevitable winter is. And all is complicated by some sort of chronic knee problem I'm experiencing which is infuriatingly compromising my mobility - a first for me.
Whine whine whine.

Julia and I just returned from the truly Great White North - Whitehorse, YT, where we were treated to an amazing experience visiting Muktuk Adventure Tours home of 140 sled dogs. They took us and 12 of the dogs out for a long ride (using an ATV this time of year) and it was SO exciting. All the times I've been to Whitehorse I've never been shown the real country surrounding it - and NOW I get it - why folks love it there. It was one of those fantastic experiences that I've been lucky enough to have as a result of being a musician.
